PCOS friendly smoothies

  • Hi 😀

I was wondering if anyone had any healthy smoothie ideas that are suitable for someone with PCOS and insulin resistance so basically low sugar options?

    Thanks a mill

    Amy

  • @Amy Finnegan sorry queen I'm not very knowledgeable on this but if you drop sinead that teaches barre and pilates a wee message she might be able to advise you, she's a nutritionist and actually posted smoothies on her page today xx

  • @Carmel Mulvany thank you so much thats brilliant, I'll drop her a message now x

  • Hi @Amy Finnegan!  Maeve has posted a green smoothie recipe that I think has avo, which is great for balancing blood sugar.  I really like @the.pcos.dietitian and @endocrinenutritionist for specific recipe ideas and I think they both have whole sections on smoothies and quick meals.  The most important bit is making sure there's a good balance of fat, protein and fibre to limit an insulin spike.  I usually add flaxseed, chia seed and a high protein/low sugar yoghurt and cut down on added fruit juices.

  • @Elise Karam thanks a mill for your reply. I will check out those 2 accounts for more info. Thanks again for the info 😀 x

  • @Amy Finnegan I thought of you when I saw Maeve's insta story yesterday with her smoothie recipe! 😋

  • @Elise Karam I actually tried it today and it was yummy!!!! I also went a little too far with the spinach 😅 still delicious!
