Back on the wagon!! Summer socialization!! | MaeveMadden

Back on the wagon!! Summer socialization!!

  • Hey Queens!!

I joined Maeve like a lot of us this time last year as we faced into our first lockdown.. and no doubt she was one of the factors that pulled me through. I am an ICU nurse in Dublin and had a very tough year. I was doing SOO well but ended up completely falling off the wagon last August and had to take a step back from work and a lot of things for a while to reset.

When people started talking about coming out of lockdown and going out again I started dreading the thoughts of having to get dressed up because I have put on so much weight... And I said to myself fe*k this I should be excited to socialise again!!

SOOOO!!! I have decided to take on this new challenge and want to come out of this lockdown in the summer like a butterfly!! Who's with me!!!??? We can do this!!! 👑

  • Yes Ruth, I know exactly how you feel. I put on so much weight in the first lockdown and I managed to get rid of some of it through diet but I need exercise to get rid of the rest of the weight and feel good in my summer clothes.

I joined for the spring challenge but didn't end up doing it basically due to life getting in the way. This time I'm not making that mistake again, I'm prioritizing myself and making time for the workouts no matter what. I already feel so good after only 2 days. 👑

  • Girls I'm with ya both too. Fed up looking in the wardrobe at all the clothes and not fitting me. Feel the burn today lol.

  • @Helena Rogers me too, I can hardly sit on the toilet my legs hurt so much 🤣🤣

  • Just did my first QDQ workout, had to start at beginner as I haven't worked out in 2 years and have gained 4 stone since the first lockdown...it's not going to disappear over night but it's not going anywhere unless I start! Seems like such a lovely community x

  • We can do it girls !! It'll be hard but think of the rewards 🥰🥰 xxx

  • Hi ladies, so I'm up for the challenge! I think I signed up by putting in my email address but haven't received confirmation. Is this normal.

I am struggling with weight gain too & on a mission to get it off & to feel better about myself. Let's go girls!!!!!

    Sx

  • @Sinead Humphreys I didn't receive any confirmation too but I presume we are in !! I just want to feel confident again when we get to meet people and actually look forward to getting dressed up and not stand in front of the wardrobe panicking about what fits!! Haha xx

  • Hi Ladies,

Just after doing sexy shoulders 😅 I couldn't walk today after sculpt and sweat yesterday and no doubt won't be able to lift my arms tomorrow 😂 But it will be all worth it in the end, that's what I keep telling myself 🤣

I have been doing the insta workouts since October and finally took the plunge yesterday and joined mainly to push myself to do the summer challenge ☺️ Like you gals I wanna come out of this lock down fitter that I went in, and with the hopes of summer I wanna actually feel good in what I am wearing and actually look forward to buying clothes instead of the usual dread 😬

So yes I am so with you all!!! 😎 We can all do this!!! 👍🙌👑

  • I'm in the same boat! I signed up last month but didn't have enough motivation to do a lot of the workouts but I'm feeling positive now that the Summer Challenge has started!

I've been working from home since last March and although I prefer it I find it harder to switch off and leave it. I feel like any time I have a spare minute I should be working. But I'm hoping that by focusing more on exercise it will give me a break and allow me to have more time to myself without any stress.

Really enjoyed the workouts from the last two days and I'm ready to take on the rest! We are all here to cheer each other on - we can do this! 💪

  • @Lauren McGuigan I definitely think that it's harder working from home, I know there is some great benefits but it does be tougher to clock out when the work isn't done. My boyfriend does be in the same situation 🙈 However that been said, by trying to motivate yourself with exercise and allocating time for yourself it is a great way to help burn off any stress that the day may have brought! 👍

We have all done the hard part by signing up, it's just a matter of keeping it going 🙌😃 And I definitely think by us all cheering each other on we have this in the bag 🙌👑

  • Joined on Sunday after weeks of being so inactive. it's crazy but you think your the only one. It's so good to know I'm not. Had to wear proper clothes for the first time last week since Christmas for a bit of work outside of home and it was awful 😢.
Here's to being able to fit back into my lovely clothes and feeling like myself again very soon.

QDQ moto for life 👑 👸🏽 It's gonna be great

  • @Noreen Magner totally agree!! Jeans are not an enjoyable experience any more! But yes we are all here together and will feel fab for the summer! 👑

I have been so inactive too and my legs are fairly feeling it already!

  • I can just see myself living in maxi dresses for the summer... when all I want is to be confident in a pair of shorts or a skirt ! Xx

  • Definitely up for this too. I was really active during lockdown 1 but my eating went to crap, I put on a bit more weight over the summer, didn't lose it and then piled on more at Christmas. I really need to work on the food and the exercise, I have lovely summer clothes and none of them fit me!

  • Hi@Ruth Shanahan

i 100% felt the same way when there was talks of lockdown ending!!  I was feeling panic at the idea of being asked on a night out, not fitting in any of my clothes and feeling crap... then guilty for thinking that way 🙈😂when I've been dying for a night out with friends for ages !!!
Im hoping qdc will help me enjoy exercising so I feel positive doing it instead of feeling so critical of myself for the gain over lockdown .

also thanks for all you must have done throughout covid as an ICU Nurse! ❤️

  • @Ruth Shanahan Hi Ruth wow go you , Im sure you have had quite th yesr! Im the exact same I was doing so well during the first locdown but sicne then I feel like the motivation was slipping away Im with you girl!!

  • @Niamh Warner I felt so guilty too Niamh to be even feeling like this.. which is mad!! From living in leggings and tracksuits for a year of course it will be strange getting back into something tighter .. but i Think im going to look into my wardrobe now and find something as a goal outfit that I want to wear this Summer when the challenge is over.. what you think?

Aww thats so lovely thank you.. hopefully we are all on the other side of it now! xx

  • @Annie Masterson Aww I was so good.. I was doing like 4 workouts a week, drinking smoothies... but then I think when we faced into lockdown again last August I just gave up.. But I'm feeling so good now and we'll keep each other going!

  • I hope everyone had a lovely Easter.

I had good Friday off but kept up the workouts as far as Saturday and made sure every bit of food + drink was logged and tracked. Enjoyed Sun + Mon off to relax with no workouts and just family time.

Absolutely delighted to get back into it today though. The bloat was awful yesterday as also got period at weekend so really looking forward to that subsiding a bit. So it has been lemon + hot water all the way today and made a big salad for the fridge (chickpeas, steamed broccoli, red onion, tomatoes, olives, cucumber) as base for lunch for next few days. Stir fry for dinner tonight so hopefully the sugar rush and bloat will fade soon.
